July 24 and 25 at Macleod Park in Langley was bustling with athletes, coaches, and spectators. Our Vancouver Olympic Club Athletes came out to compete in the Sprints, Jumps and Wheelchair Event Challenges.
On the Men’s side, Thomas Ma won his preferred events of 110mH (15.52) and 400mH (56.53) and finished second at 400m (51.46) with all events getting his personal bests. Jacob De Wijze won the 800m exhibition (2:11.05) and finished 4th in 400m (54.39)
Terence and Clarence Cheung had great events where Clarence won a silver in Long Jump with a PR of 6.44m and Terence finished 4th in 400m (52.02).
Bronze medal winners were Jose Montessori in 100mH (14.91), and Jacob Anderson with huge improvements in 300mH (48.75).
Great performance by Anthony Chu with a PR in 100m (11.73), and a solid run from Senri Nakamura (12.02), Julius Hall (13.69) and Mitchell Yuen (13.57) in sprint events.
On the Women’s side, Adria Sellers won the gold medal in 400mH (1:08.92), Karina Shuen won two bronze medals, a PR in 100mH with 15.88m, and Triple Jump (10.95m), great run from Amelia Lovie in 300m (43.64) with a bronze medal, huge improvement from Allison Torrance with a bronze in Triple Jump (10.25m) and finished 4th in 80mH with the time of 12.99 and her first time running under 13”.
Great performance had Zoe Cheng in 200m (28.05), and solid run from Naomi Amin (30.12), and Chandra Reddy (31.44) in sprint events, of them with a PR.
Both relay teams of 4x200m for men and women finished third place with the bronze medals with times of 1:33.78 (men) and 1:51.19 (women).
