VOC Athletes Competed at the Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships

This years Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships took place at Cape Breton University, in Sydney, Nova Scotia on August 9 to 11, 2019.

Six of our athletes went across Canada and competed in various events. The results of these athletes are as follows:

Adria Sellers competed and placed 3rd winning bronze in the the Women’s U16 200m Hurdles with a time of 28.59. She also raced and and came 5th in the Women’s U16 80m Hurdles with a time of 12.40.

Thomas Ma won gold in the Men’s U18 400m Hurdles with a time of 54.51 and came 4th in the Men’s U18 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.52.

Sophie Forsyth participated in the Women’s U16 1500m Steeplechase and placed 4th with a time of 5:00.35. Dylan Uhrich ran the Men’s U18 2000m Steeplechase and came 5th with a time of 6:10.27

Kendra Lewis shone in both her events placing 1st and winning gold in the Women’s U18 1500m with a time of 4:28.08 and the Women’s U18 3000m with a time of 9:48.24.

Lastly, Caleigh O’Flaherty placed 4th overall in the Women’s U18 Heptathlon events and here are her results:

  • 1st – 800m with a time of 2:25.03
  • 4th – 200m Dash with a time of 26.60
  • 3rd – 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.01
  • 2nd – High Jump with a height of 1.58m
  • 2nd – Long Jump with a distance of 5.29m
  • 4th – Shot put 3kg with a distance of 11.00m
  • 6th – Javelin 500g with a distance of 24.91m
