A Golden Week for VOC at the Van Ryzwyk Indoor Track meet in Kamloops and at the UW Open in Seattle.
A total of 14 medals were achieved at Kamloops: 9 gold, one silver, and 4 bronze with 6 Indoor meet records
Thomas Nobbs ranked # 1 in Canada in 3000m for both regular and oversized track for Youths. Nobbs is ranked # 6 in 3000m in USA High School and #2 for grade 11.
Anastase Eliopoulos ranked # 1 in Canada for 60m hurdles in the youth category.
On Friday Feb 12th, Thomas Nobbs won the gold medal in 3000m smashing the three meet records for Senior, Junior, and Youth category with a new time of 8:41.04 and ranked # 1 in the country for 200m indoor track for Youth category. On Saturday, Nobbs won the second gold in the 1500m with the new record of 4:03.63.
Anastas Eliopoulos broke two records in the 60m hurdles with a new time of 8.07 and 60m with 7.14 winning two gold medals. Eliopoulos’ 60m hurdle time ranked her # 1 in the country for the Youth category. On Sunday, he won the 200m dash with 23.72, collecting three gold medals in this meet dominating the sprint of indoor events.
For 13 year old boys, Thomas Ma broke the meet record of 60m, winning the gold with 8.09, and also won the long jump with 4.73m.
Great performance also from Pirro Ifti who ran his first indoor track race winning two bronze medals in the 800m and 1200m with a meet record of 4:01.39.
Hannah Johnston won gold in 60m hurdles with 9.62 and two bronze in long jump with 4.99m and 200m with 28.11.
Kendra Lewis won the gold in 1200m with the time of 3:58.30 and silver in 800m with 2:30.38.
Paris Eliopoulos won a bronze in the long jump and an impressive performance in the 200m.
At Dempsey on Feb 13 and 14, Devan Wiebe ran a very promising and a personal best in the 600m with 1:32.33, just 0.69 seconds behind the top Canadian 1500m runner Gabriela Stafford. Wiebe ran a solid 800m with 2:08.45.
Spencer Pratt had a good performance in 600m with the time of 1:27.67.
Tamara Harris had a personal best in 600m with the time of 1:34.64
