VOC JD Shine at BC Elementary Track and Field Championships

Last weekend 17 VOC JD athletes excelled as they represented their schools in the BC Elementary Track and Field Championships at Minoru Park in Richmond. Results include 8 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.

Leading the team was Sophie Fernback who won HJ and LJ with great results. In HJ, Sophie achieved the JD Award Standard with the result of 1.36m. She also had great performances in sprint and hurdles.

Jasneet Cheema won the triple jump with 9.16m. She also placed third in 80mH with a time of 13.96; just 1/100th of a second ahead of VOC athlete Chloe Ainsworth who came in fourth.

Kendra Lewis won the 1200m with the time of 4:02.85 and came in second in the 800m with 2:35.86.

Other medal winners are Nina Watson, winning the bronze in 800m with 2:35.08, fourth in 1200m with 4:08.59 and 7th in 80mH with 15.36; Paris Eliopoulos won bronze in discus with 20.90m and came sixth in 80m with 14.96.

Great results for Stephanie Berringer who ran a solid race of 600m with the time of 3:44.23 for 6th place.

In sprint events we had good results from Thomas Ma who came 4th in 100m, and Rowan Lewis, Amelia Geheran, Tiana and Lauren Ho, Abhay and Aditi Katyal, Dylon and Zoe Cheng and Hilary Horrobin who all ran good races.
