VOC Athletes Excel at Provincial Championship.

Stephanie Cho sets BC Record in 300mH – still #1 in Canada.

Eight elite VOC athletes competed at the final BC Jamboree Provincial Championship in Kamloops last weekend with excellent results.

Stephanie Cho had an amazing performance in 300mH, setting a new BC Record with 43.02. She is currently ranked #1 in Canada. Also, despite being injured and with only one jump, Stephanie earned a Silver in Triple Jump.

Hannah Johnston demonstrated her talent in horizontal jumps and hurdles, winning four Bronze medals and achieving three BC Provincial Team standards.

Megan Picken ran a smart race in the 800m, winning the BC Champion title and a Gold medal with a personal best time of 2:15.74. She also did well in hurdles.

Jasper Schiedel performed well, winning a Silver medal in 100mH with a personal best time of 13.76.

Kyle Jang exploded in the start of 100m, winning the Silver medal with a personal best time of 12.01.

Thomas Nobbs also had a great meet in middle and long distance races, winning a Bronze in 2000m, and 4th and 6th in 1200m and 800m respectively. Thomas achieved a huge personal best improving his time by 10 seconds in the 1200m.

Javier Sanches Mejorada and Connor Blakely competed for the first time at the championship level. Javier had solid runs in the 200m, 300m. Connor won a Bronze in javelin with 27.88m  and achieved huge personal bests in the 100m and 200m.

Our midget 4x100m relay team won the Gold medal with Kyle Jang, Javier Sanches Mejorada, Connor Blakely and Jasper Schiedel.

Five VOC athletes, including Stephanie Cho, Megan Picken, Hannah Johnston, Jasper Schiedel and Javier Sanches Mejorada achieved the standards for the competition at the Canadian Legion National Championship on August 9-11, in Langley, BC.

Jessica Hanson, who is ranked #1 in BC and #2 in Canada in high jump, will not compete in this year’s National Championships. Hanson, a great all-around athlete, made the Provincial Basketball Team for Canada Summer Games.

Athletes are continuing preparations for their final competition. Congratulation to all VOC athletes for their achievements.
